{Real Parties} Operation Shower's Red, White & Coo Baby Shower!

Share To:

A few months ago, Sarah from Pottery Barn Kids shared her photos of the amazing Operation Shower event held at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. I had been meaning to post before the 4th of July to give you some fabulous red, white & blue inspiration, but you know how that goes. I’m not quite keeping up these days! This incredible shower was styled by our friends, Jenn at Hostess with the Mostess, Amy of Stem Parties and Chris from Celebrations at Home. This event was not only beautiful but celebrated a group of deserving, beautiful moms-to-be. I have worked with Amy in the past on designs for Operation Shower and the events always turn out wonderful!

From Sarah:

On Wednesday, April 13th, 40 expectant military moms from Camp Lejeune, located in Jacksonville, N.C. (the largest Marine Corps base on the east coast), were showered with love, support and gifts during a baby shower event hosted by Operation Shower. Operation Shower is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides joyful baby showers for military families to ease the burden of deployment. All of the expectant moms had husbands who were deployed – some are expected back before the delivery but most will still be away.

The theme of the shower was “Red, White & Coo” and was full of surprises including gifts and special guests. As part of a new White House initiative which calls upon the nation to help support military families and recognizes people, schools and organizations who are going above and beyond to offer support, First Lady, Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden made a surprise guest appearance at the shower to show recognition for the organization, but more importantly to show their support for each of the moms-to-be. Martha Stewart also attended and conducted a scrapbooking demonstration.

The moms-to-be weren’t given much information about the event so the surprises just kept coming. They all received a “Shower in a Box” which was filled with all of the essential baby items including diapers, wipes, blankets, etc. Pottery Barn Kids donated a Gingham Hooded Towel for the box. In addition to the “Shower in a Box” various baby items were raffled off, the grand prize being one Madison 3-in-1 Fixed Gate Pottery Barn Kids Crib …or so everyone thought. Instead of giving just one crib to one lucky winner, we instead gave one to each of the expectant moms. As I made the announcement to the group that each of them would walk away with a brand new Pottery Barn Kids crib a hush fell over the room – many were in disbelief, some started cheering and others burst into tears of joy. I can’t begin to explain what it felt like to see their expressions and was truly a proud moment for our brand to be a part of something so special.

What an amazing experience that must have been, Sarah!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

As a USMC wife (pregnant during our last deployment and now this current deployment!) this is an amazing organization! What a blessing for those women! I would love to work with Operation Shower to see more showers like this for other very deserving wives.
