Design Assistant
Andrea is the Design Assistant for the TomKat Studio. Her job is to customize the files you order and make sure they reach you in plenty of time for your celebration (believe it or not, there is a real person behind the files you order!). She was Kim’s first hire in February 2010, hand-picked out of a much larger pool of applicants than Kim anticipated- business was indeed booming!
Andrea first learned of the TomKat Studio when Kim’s face showed up in her mailbox on the cover of the May 2009 issue of their local magazine. Tremendously inspired by Kim’s success at making a business doing what she loves while also being a mom to her two little ones, she hung on to the article and began following Kim’s blog, Facebook and Twitter. While working from home had always been on her to-do list (especially if any little ones were in her future), at the time she was happily employed in a management position at a super cool locally-owned restaurant, and starting a family wasn’t even on her radar.
One week later, she found out she was seven weeks pregnant.
Andrea began a virtual assistant business that fall as something to pursue after the birth of her daughter, Linnea, who was born right before Christmas 2009. Six weeks later, she saw Kim’s tweet saying that she was looking for a virtual assistant- and jumped at the opportunity. The day after her husband, Cody, went back to work, Andrea received news from Kim that she was hired. It still amazes her how things came full-circle, and she feels incredibly blessed to be a part of this team and in a community of creative, supportive, and passionate women and moms who are each living their dreams.
Andrea is a writer and editor by trade, and has discovered a bona-fide obsession with seeing the world through a lens- a pursuit wholly inspired by her daughter- and began her photography business in December 2010. 
She has always loved a good book, thrift shopping, sewing, decorating and redecorating every room in her house, taking long, scenic drives, experimenting in the kitchen, and spending each day marveling at her baby’s milestones, mishaps and that precious, dazzling smile. She has been married to her wonderful husband Cody since 2007. They make their home in Gilbert with Linnea and their two dogs, THOR! and Hanalei.
The May 2009 issue of Go Gilbert! Magazine still sits prominently on the bookshelf next to her desk.
