Dream Job….

Share To:

Hello my lovely friends! I feel like I’ve been so busy with the new shop and projects that I haven’t had time to chat here on the blog and I really miss it! Molly & I  just returned from another trip to San Francisco for Pottery Barn Kids. {Whaaat?} Yes, after styling five parties/showers for my favorite brand ever, I still need a pinch that this is really happening. Each trip is an experience in itself. The locations/homes we see, the amazing people we work with, the food we enjoy…it’s all very surreal for us work-at-home moms from Phoenix suburbia. I feel so lucky and blessed that this opportunity has come my way.

While we were on our trip, the creative director mentioned that one of our styled photos from the Gardening Party made it into the latest catalog {have you seen it?!}. It took everything in my being not to jump out of my chair. You know, I try to act like a normal, refined person with these talented professionals but deep down, there seems to be a constant scream of joy and excitement trying to escape. So, my team and I stay composed until we were alone and then we become giggly school girls freaking out about where we are and what we’re doing. It is so hard to explain the feeling at the end of the trip, where we are so proud of all that was accomplished and experienced. Maybe it’s elation, maybe it’s joy…but whatever that feeling is…I love it.

We had an amazing crew yet again…with some new faces, as well as familiar faces. It is such a group effort and I am constantly amazed by the talent that Pottery Barn Kids has recruited. I have learned so much about the whole process in such a little amount of time working with this incredible team. So many tips and tricks that I can use and apply to my own shoots and styling.

I can’t wait to show you our latest projects when they debut on the Pottery Barn Kids site over the next few months!

Stay tuned, my lovely readers…and thank you for being amazing!

XOXO, Kim

So happy for your success…and the fact all of us get to enjoy it along with you! I have to say I have seen other sites and blogs similar to yours, and your party styling and ideas are always a cut above. They are beautiful and bountiful yes, but never garish, over the top or otherwise gaudy. Your sense of design, balance, harmony and color are really inspiring. As a graphic designer with OCD 🙂 and being a fellow perfectionist, I appreciate your talents immensely. So, best of luck with your continued success and I personally thank you for inspiring me to push myself creatively when it comes to my own kid’s parties and other entertaining events 🙂

  9. Um, hello – you ARE one of the professionals! I did see your work in the catalog, and was like “I *know* her!” I’m so excited for you, Kim!!

  10. Molly says:

I’m pretty sure I have the best job ever – getting to work side by side with such an incredible woman! Thank you Kim, for including me and for staying up until the wee hours of the morning just talking and giggling about how lucky we are to be doing what we’re doing… You are amazing and deserving of everything that comes your way!

  11. It’s funny – Just last night I was thinking about what an amazing thing it is, that so many of us bloggers get to do these amazing events. Last week we were invited to the Nike Young Athletes Innovation Summit – {which was AMAZING!} – While I was there, I knew a few moms who were at The Avengers NYC event, and a few who were at the Disney Moms event.

So when I read your line – “it’s all very surreal for us work-at-home moms from Phoenix suburbia.” – I SOOOO get what you mean! I mean, I’m a single momma living in a small city, and I got an invite from Nike to fly down and be their guest, stay at a 5 star hotel, and get some swag. Seriously?? And then to see my bloggy buddies doing this stuff too – all I can say is, Bloggers Rock 🙂

Congrats on such an amazing experience you guys got to be a part of – Pottery Barn is one of my first loves, so I can only imagine how awesome it must have been! But you too are totally amazing, and definitely deserve your spot creating magic with them!

  12. Alicia says:

I can only hope that one day I too can just begin to have a portion of the fun and exciting time you are enjoying being a stay at home working mom!

Congrats Kim! You continue to rock on!

  13. Stephanie says:

It is such an exciting journey you are on, and it couldn’t have come to anyone more deserving and kind. Hugs from the other side of the world.

How VERY exciting!!! So will the majority of the parties that you styled be on the Pottery Barn Kids website? I would love to see the end result of your (and all of the team’s) hard work.

Kim you are such an inspiration for all the stay-at-home mothers. We all love to design and prepare our kids parties and would love to make this a profession, like you did. You deserve all the good things that are happening to you now, you worked hard for that.
Thank you for share your success with us!

  18. CONGRATS!!!! I’m so happy for you. You deserve it. I’ve been following your blog since you first posted your daughter’s cupcake and llolipop parties. It’s amazing to see how far you’ve come along. You are an inspiration to me and many others.
