We are so excited that our talented contributor, Kerri Cupcake from Sweet Indulgence shared her favorite cake pop recipe and techniques earlier with us all today! Kerri will be regularly sharing more of her amazing cake pop designs along with easy steps for you to recreate them at home, starting with these adorable Halloween designs!
Ghost Cake Pop Tutorial
- To create these ghost cake pops you will first need to shape your cake batter into an oval instead of a ball, push the lollipop stick through the center and attach the ghost’s arms by sticking candy bananas into the sides of the oval cake shape. Dip the cake pop into white chocolate and let set.
- Once the chocolate has set you can add the jack-o-lantern candy bag! This is an optional addition (we use an orange round candy) or they can also be made using orange fondant rolled into small balls. Squeeze a dollop of white chocolate onto your orange ball and place them under the ghost’s arm until firm.
- The final step is to add the ghost and jack-o-lantern’s face. For this we use black chocolate and first pipe a kidney bean shaped mouth in the center of the pop. Then add the crescent eyes above on either side. Next, add the face and handle to the jack-o-lantern candy bag.
Jack-O-Lantern Cake Pop Tutorial
- After rolling your cake batter into balls and pushing the lollipop stick into the center, dip the cake pops in orange chocolate. Set aside to dry on a sheet of waxed paper.
- Once the chocolate has set, pipe thin orange chocolate lines (6-8 lines) from top to bottom around the cake pop. These are to show the natural lines of the pumpkin.
- Time to make the pumpkin’s stem! Simply add a ring of milk chocolate to the area where the stick meets the cake pop.
- Now that you have designed the pumpkin the next step is to create the Jack-O-Lantern’s face! For this you will use black chocolate. We usually start with the nose in the center, followed by triangle eyes and and toothy smile. Get creative! Design different jack-O-lantern expressions from spooky to fun- no need to keep them all the same design!
