Getting Creative with Shutterfly Home Decor!

As you may have read a few weeks ago, I am partnering with the amazing brand, Shutterfly to bring you fresh ideas using their home decor collection! This month, I created several new projects and had SO much fun working on them. I designed a variety of items, some with photos and some with graphics. I’m so excited to share them with you and hope that they inspire you to create something amazing to preserve your memories! Let’s start with the photo above, which is a 5″ x 7″ Custom Desktop Plaque! I came up with a quote that I knew would be a great way to start each day. It reads, “Today Will Be Fabulous” and I designed the graphic using Microsoft Publisher. I love how this plaque came out! It is a nice, thick material with a glossy finish, rounded corners and a built-in black easel. It looks perfect right next to lucky “Ellie” the elephant on my desk! Download the 5″x7″ graphic to make your own plaque

The next project I created is my favorite of the bunch! These are Photo Gallery Acrylic Blocks. They are so cool! The blocks are a thick acrylic and are very modern in style. They come in two sizes (5″x5″ and 5″x7″) that look great right next to each other. I decided it would be cute to do one using a black and white photo of the kids and one with a graphic print (heart + love.) I think they turned out adorable! shutterfly photo cubes

Okay wait, did I say the Acrylic Blocks were my favorite? Hmmm….maybe these Photo Cubes are actually my favorite?! I can’t decide. For the cubes, I used a photo from each of the kids’ 1st – 5th birthday parties. I loved looking back at old photos and can’t believe how quickly my babies have grown up. The kids loved seeing all of the photos too and it reminded me that I really need to do more with our family photos than just have them sit on my hard drive. I think Shutterfly has quite a few options to help me with this problem!

wood wall art

The last project I worked on was using Shutterfly’s Photo Gallery Wood Wall Art. They actually print your photo right on the wood! Pretty cool, right? The photo I used was one that I took while on a trip to Europe with my husband back in 2004. (pre-digital camera days) This was the hotel we stayed at in Amsterdam. Such a fun way to turn a memory into a piece of art!

Just love ALL these items Kim !! I bought the “Enjoy the little things….” block from you so I will for sure be doing the Photo Cubes to put next to it for my desk with the kid’s photos. Love the acrylic blocks and love Shutterfly! I had a high school graduate, a middle school graduate, and an elementary school graduate this year and had a grand plan of making them each a graduation book as a gift. Holy heck, been working since April and still on first one. The digital world has made us photo crazy! It is amazingly adorable and so fun to make. Just wish I hadn’t procrastinated so long. My little one asks me evrry day if his book is almost done. Kids love looking at old pictures of themselves! Thanks for supporting shutterfly!

    • Kim says:

Hi Bonnie! Yes, it takes some time to choose the perfect photos, etc but it’s SO worth it when that end product shows up in your mailbox! You’ll get it done and your kids will love them!

  10. Kate Landers says:

So much fun! I just ordered one of their blankets and plaques, but was on the fence about the photo blocks and acrylic blocks. Seeing how great they turned out, I think I will have to order! 🙂

    • Kim says:

Hi Kate! So fun! You’ll have to tell me how they turn out! I absolutely love both the blocks and cubes! I think the blocks would be great for Danny’s desk at work, too.

  11. You are SO fun Kim! Love these projects!! I’ve got WAY too many photos on my computer and not enough on my walls or throughout my home. Makes me sad. You’ve inspired me!!

    • Kim says:

Aren’t they fun?! Oh my gosh, I love making them and I’m so excited to make more soon! Get those photos up on your walls, girl!

  12. Tina Dahl says:

Kim-where did you get those fabulous mirrors from that hang above the fireplace? Also, Love your Kate Spade purse in the background of the acrylic block photo 🙂

    • Kim says:

The black mirrors are from Target! 🙂 I bought them for our last house, but they still have them there. Just saw them! (did you like that KS touch?)

    Good Morning!

Can’t get the “Today will be Fabulous” printable link to work!

Could you email to me direct?

Thank you– love that colorful print!!

    Angela

  19. Erin says:

I downloaded the desk plaque graphic, but when I go to Shutterfly – it doesn’t give me a blank option for the plaque. Which one did you use? Super excited about the graphic – it’s going to match my classroom decor for this year!! Thank you!

    • Kim says:

      Hi Erin,
Use the “Photo Gallery Desktop Plaque”, size 5″ x 7″ and click “Personalize”. Then in the left hand column you will see the option to use one vertical photo. Upload the graphic and then do not add any text and you’ll be good to go!
Let me know if you have an issues!
      Kim

    Hi Kim,

I just LOVE your site. You are so creativive. I tried to download the 5″ x 5″ heart graphic to use on my own acrylic block but the link is not working. May I get you to email it to me please?

    God Bless,

  24. Amber says:

I have done the photo cubes a bit differently using Carol Duvall’s craft segment from many years ago.
The cube basically becomes a head with feet.
Front of face, left profile, right profile, back of head, are the 4 sides.
Top of head and feet are the top and bottom.
This was the cutest thing ever, and a great gift for grandparents, mothers or fathers day, and can be done yearly.
