My Favorite Printer…

Share To:

canon pixma pro 100

I am often asked what type of printer I use for my printables and projects. When I started my little Etsy shop back in 2009, I purchased a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer. It was a great printer and printed my printables beautifully, especially once I found the perfect paper. Well, last year, the paper feed stopped working properly and I decided it was about time to treat myself to a new one. I purchased a Canon Pixma Pro100 which is the newer version of my old printer. I love it. One of my favorite features is that is wireless. When I opened the shop, I decided to move the printer there and it is so great that everyone can print without having to “plug in”. Well, I quickly realized that I do much of my design work at home, so I definitely need one at home too. I just ordered another one on Amazon and found an amazing Canon rebate! I am so excited, so I thought I’d share the details.

Here are some facts about the printer:

  • 8 Dye based inks for amazing gradients and color, 3 of which are dedicated grayscale inks for beautiful black & white prints
  • The Optimum Image Generating System reproduces colors as you intend them by logically selecting the optimum ink combination and placement
  • Compatible with Individual CLI-42 Ink Tanks (Black, Gray, Light Gray, Cyan, Photo Cyan, Magenta, Photo Magenta, Yellow). Only Replace The Inks That Run Out.
  • 4800 x 2400 dpi with FINE technology for incredible detail
  • Print your Vision up to 13″ x 19″: Print professional quality photos on various media up to 13″ x 19″

Amazon Printer Price: $378.70 ($499.00 retail price on Canon.com)
Canon Rebate: $200
Final Price: $178.70

That is a fantastic deal for this type of large photo printer! Now would be a great time to get one! With the holidays coming up, just think of the printables + crafts you can make using it!

How long do your ink cartridges last? My printer goes through ink very quickly…I feel like I always need to replace them and they are expensive.

    • Kim says:

It is hard to say how often I change out the tanks. They are individual on this printer, so it really varies. Unfortunately, all ink for color photo printers is typically expensive. Since I get the quality and results I need, I just go with it. 🙂

  7. Sonya says:

It looks awesome and what a good deal! How much do you usually pay for ink? Thanks for sharing 🙂

    Hello,

I love my Pixma Pro-100. I was just wondering what was the maximum weight of paper you used on your printer. I am considering 110 lb matte paper for some of my projects. Thanks!
